A Snapshot of Colorado Employment and Job Growth-2015

Keeping you up-to-date on what’s happening in the area of employment and job growth, below is information from a Colorado Association of REALTORS® report for 2015.

Of the approximately 2.5 million jobs throughout the state, the top 10 employers and the number of people they employ are:

  1. S. Government: 50,000+
  2. State of Colorado: 30,000+
  3. University of Colorado: 13,300+
  4. Lockheed Martin: 10,000+
  5. Peterson Air Force Base: 9,286+
  6. Denver International Airport: 7,000+
  7. Colorado State University: 6,500+
  8. Rooftop Restoration Inc.: 6,000+
  9. Western Union: 6,000+
  10. Exempla St. Joseph Hospital: 5,000+

The Colorado Real Estate Industry 2015 Snapshot also includes information about the state’s job growth. Colorado is expected to add more than 61,300 jobs in 2015, ranking it among the top 10 states, according to CU Boulder.

Most of that growth is in the professional and business services sector, which is projected to increase by 3.3 percent or 12,800 jobs. Following that is the leisure and hospitality sector, which is forecast to be the second-leading job growth sector for 2015, with 11,200 jobs expected to be added.

The education and health services sector should add 9,300 jobs, many of which are considered public-sector positions.
