Holiday Shopping Begins in Earnest With Local Arts & Crafts Shows 2014
It’s that fun shopping time of year when different groups are holding holiday arts and craft shows throughout the community. It’s always fun to shop at these events because you’ll find great gifts and other times that aren’t the “norm” that you see the rest of the year and give you a jump start on Holiday shopping!
In an effort to let you get the most out of this year’s holiday shopping, here are the major shows coming up in the Douglas/Elbert County area (Parker, Elizabeth & Castle Rock, Colorado):
Event: Mountain Pine Yuletide Bazaar
Date: Saturday, November 8, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Parker Fieldhouse, 18700 E. Plaza Drive, Parker, CO 80134
Description: Sponsored annually by the Mountain Pine Woman’s Club, this event gets the holiday shopping season off to a great start with more than 100 booths of gifts and Christmas items, as well as homemade bakery items. Proceeds from the fund-raising bazaar help the Parker Task Force, and fund Fieldhouse Recreation scholarships and college scholarships for Parker high school students.
Event: 9th Annual Made With Hands and Heart Craft Fair
Date: Saturday, November 8, 2014
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Faith Lutheran Church and Preschool, 303 N. Ridge Road, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
Description: An annual event, this fair will feature baked good, homemade jewelry, Christmas decorations, gifts and much, much more!
Event: Legend Arts and Crafts Fair
Date: Saturday, November 15, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Legend High School, 22219 Hilltop Road, Parker, CO 80138
Description: Sponsored annually by the Legend High School Band Boosters to benefit the school’s band, this crafts fair will feature 70+ fine arts and crafts vendors, as well as raffle drawings and a used book sale . Santa also will be available for photos, and the Legend High School Band will provide entertainment.
Event: Elizabeth Middle School Annual Craft Fair
Date: Saturday, November 15, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Elizabeth Middle School, 34427 County Road 13, Elizabeth, CO 80107
Description: Held the third Saturday of November every year, this craft fair features more than 80 vendors with different crafts and wares, and homemade holiday cookies sold by the pound. Proceeds go to help fund the 8th grade celebration, scholarships for student field trips, supplies, rewards for students and other school needs.
Event: Castle Rock Holiday Fair & Artisan Show
Date: Saturday, November 29, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Event Center at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 500 Fairgrounds Road, Castle Rock, CO 80104
Description: Crafts and artisan works will be featured at this event, which will also have a silent auction to benefit the Women’s Crisis Family & Outreach Center. Santa will be on hand for photos.
Event: Once Upon a December Boutique
Date: Saturday, December 6, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Chaparral High School, 15665 Brookstone Drive, Parker, CO 80134
Description: The 10th Annual Once Upon a December Craft Show is sponsored annually by the Chaparral High School Marching Band Boosters to benefit the band. Among the items featured at this boutique, which is being transitioned into a juried, hand-crafted only event, are fine arts and crafts vendors, as well as commercial/retail, homegrown products and antique/collectibles exhibitors.
And finally, while you are making a note of this year’s holiday festivities, don’t forget about the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting at O’Brien Park, 10795 Victorian Drive, beginning at 5 p.m. on November 28 (one of our favorite Parker events of the year!).
