Let the Town of Parker Know What You Want at a New Recreational Site
It’s not often that individuals get to help in the development of a new recreational area. That’s why I find it so exciting that the Town of Parker wants to hear from you as it works on a master plan for a new 90-acre site.
Known as Salisbury Park North, the 90-acre recreational site is adjacent to Salisbury Equestrian Park and Sports Complex, 11920 Motsenbocker Road, Parker, CO 80134.
The Town realizes this is a tremendous opportunity to create a special destination for Parker residents. And there’s still time to let Town folks know what you think – even though one major opportunity to provide suggestions just passed.
On June 30, 2014, about 150 Parker area residents made their wishes known at a public open house, where three initial concepts for Salisbury Park North were presented.
Comments from that open house, an online survey completed by 800 Parker residents, two stakeholder meetings with local groups and a presentation to Town Council will now be used to develop one preferred idea for the park.
This preferred plan will be the focus of a second public open house on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. You won’t want to miss that. It’s your opportunity to be a part of the planning process.
Simply visit http://www.parkeronline.org/list.aspx and click on Salisbury Park North Master plan to make sure you are in the loop. You will receive notices about upcoming public meetings and other opportunities to let your thoughts be known.
At this point in the process, the Town plans to incorporate some “given” amenities into the final concept, including sports fields, playgrounds, nature areas and a 5K course.
The surveys completed by 800 residents also suggested the Town consider adding running/walking loop trails, a sledding hill, splash park or other recreational water feature, multi-use fields, large community play area, small picnic shelters, festival or performance space, and additional baseball/softball fields.
The master plan for the Salisbury Park North is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
