If you live in the Parker area, you really must head into downtown during the festive holiday season to enjoy all that the Town has to offer.

There are plenty of fantastic shows at the PACE Center, as well as beautifully decorated streets, free carriage rides on Saturday nights and a Parker Christmas Carriage Parade.  You’ll really want to take part in all of it.

My favorite event is the Parker Christmas Carriage Parade, which is free and begins at noon on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. An annual tradition in Parker for many, many years, this parade is unique in that it is an all-equestrian parade. It is put on by the Town of Parker and the Colorado Driving Society.

Beginning at noon, parade participants will head west on Mainstreet. They will include dozens of horse-drawn carriages, surreys, wagons and stagecoaches from across Colorado – all dressed up for this year’s theme, “Let it Snow”.

There also will be other activities throughout the day in the O’Brien Park area. A petting zoo, pony rides and ice sculpting will be open from 11 a.m. 3 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Claus also will be on hand – but after the parade – from 1 to 3 p.m. in the O’Brien Park Gazebo. Pictures are $5 (cash only).

A Home for the Holidays Winter Market also will be in O’Brien Park on that busy day – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As a reminder, Mainstreet in Old Town Parker will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so everyone can enjoy the parade.

If you haven’t gotten into the holiday spirit by Dec. 13, make a point of showing up for these festive events. There really is no place like home – and Parker – for the holidays!
