As you are out looking at homes or thinking about remodeling your current house, there are two handy apps that can help you envision and complete any renovation project you have in mind.
In our continuing series featuring useful apps, let’s first look at the Room Sketcher, which is a useful tool for homebuyers, renovators and REALTORS.
For homebuyers and REALTORS, it can be used two ways. Buyers can use it to create the home of their dreams in 2D or 3D so they can show their real estate agents exactly what they’re looking for. Buyers and REALTORS can also use it if they are looking at a fixer-upper and want to visualize how renovation or remodeling projects would change the look of the home.
For people simply looking at renovating their current dwelling, it’s a great tool too.
Either way, the Room Sketcher app allows you to draw up your floor plan, furnish and decorate the home, and then visualize it in 3D.
The creators of Room Sketcher Home Designer say it is an “incredibly easy-to-use, intuitive and comprehensive home design and floor plan tool,” that they designed because they “think creating floor plans and home designs should be easy and fun.”
You can use it to:
- Create 2D and 3D floor plans – either draw them yourself or use the app’s Floor Plan Services
- Furnish and decorate your home with the easy-to-use, drag-and-drop Home Designer.

And then, if you have moved into a new home or are updating your current home, you can use an app called Voxer to communicate during those renovations. It basically turns your cell phone into a Walkie Talkie.
You can be painting in one room, but if another family member needs help putting up shelves in a totally different part of the house, he can let you know easily and quickly.
With Voxer, you can listen live and respond immediately. And it works on any cellular or WiFi network around the world.
