Construction is About to Begin on Parker’s New Library!
The land at the corner of East Mainstreet and Pine Drive has been prepared. Now the real work will begin on Parker’s new library.
And you are invited to join in the celebration – at a community ground breaking at the site, 20105 East Mainstreet, at 10 a.m. May 18.
Comments will be made by Parker Mayor Mike Waid and Douglas County Libraries Director Bob Pasicznyuk. Other ground breaking events will include coffee and light breakfast, as well as a special Lego activity to encourage the community to celebrate the spirit of building.
The Parker library, which is scheduled to open in February 2016, is just one of three new libraries being built at the same time throughout Douglas County.
The other two facilities are in Lone Tree, for which land was broken at 10055 Town Ridge Drive on May 4, and Castle Pines, for which the ground-breaking ceremony was held on May 11 at 360 Village Square Lane.
Parker’s library will have a unique shape, which was derived from the shape of the site to leverage views to the west and over Parker’s planned park and plaza. It also will have community rooms, which will be over the library’s entry; study rooms that overlook Mainstreet; and an interactive children’s space.
Douglas County Libraries first announced plans to build three new libraries in 2013, funded largely by library district savings, and the No Leaf Unturned fund-raising campaign.
